"WELCOME TO AMAROK SAILING CHARTERS" Sails the Bahamas with Angela and Joe aboard their Morgan 41' cutter ketch from Nassau to the Outislands of Exuma, Eleuthera or the Berry Islands. Enjoy the crystal clear waters, beautiful white beaches, excellent sailing and spectacular snorkeling that only the Bahamas can offer. Choices of destinations on your cruise from Nassau can be the Exuma, Eleuthera, and Berry Islands. Our itinerary is flexible and based on the weather pattern for your cruise. We try to play the weather so we can sail as much as possible. A typical day consists of: Sailing (usually 3-6 hours) after breakfast to a new location, then exploring and snorkeling. Options are discussed at breakfast and your specific desires discussed. The Bahama Outislands offer: deserted islands and beaches with no footprints, caves to snorkel in (as featured in "Thunderball 007"), quaint villages with friendly people and calypso bands in the evenings, shopping in native straw markets, trying your luck in the casinos, photographing endangered rock iguanas, seeking the mysterious "blue holes" in the interior of some islands, numerous wrecks to snorkel, and trolling for big game fish such as Mahi-Mahi and Tuna. There are also many rare and seldom seen migratory ocean birds. Occasionally whales are seen in the deep blue. All Bahamas cruises are six or thirteen days long. Embarkation is at 0830 on Sunday mornings, with a return at 1600 on Friday afternoons. A six-day cruise is six days and five nights. THE BOAT The AMAROK is a 1980 41' Morgan Out-Island cutter-rigged ketch, which can accommodate up to six guests. She has constantly been upgraded and is maintained in top condition by her owners Joe & Angela. by a 2000 71 hp Westerbeke diesel and a 5 kw Westerbeke generator. She carries a full sail inventory for all conditions including a chute. For your comfort she is tastefully decorated and fully air-conditioned while at dock, has hot water and private shower for our guests. She has an AM/FM CD player, so bring your favorite music. The outside center cockpit is covered by a Bimini top and dodger for your protection from the sun and spray and has very comfortable cockpit cushions. For your safety the AMAROK has up-to-date electronic navigation and radio equipment in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard and Bahamian requirements (including an EPIRB and comprehensive first aid kit). AMAROK also carries fishing gear, snorkeling gear, and rigid inflatable dinghy with outboard. 1=crew quarters 6=double berth (2) 2=engine room 7=head (2) 3=locker 8=hang locker 4=chart table 9=berth 5=galley THE CREW Both Joe and Angela hold United States Coast Guard Masters licenses for carrying passengers for hire. Joe has been sailing in the Bahamas and Florida waters for over 30 years. A former biologist, he is qualified in first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. He is a skilled skin diver and fisherman, supplying Angela with most of the seafood used to prepare her delicious meals. Angela has over 20 years sailing experience in the Bahamas and Florida waters and is an excellent chef. She has recently published her cookbook "Good 'Tings From Da Galley". Together both have sailed with over 600 successful charters. "Good 'Tings From Da Galley" has over 75 recipes served on board the AMAROK from over 20 years of chartering in the Bahamas. Included are recipes such as cracked conch, grilled tuna teriyaki, lobster curry, honey garlic chicken, eggplant lasagna, breads, salads, appetizers, and soups. Rates effective January 1, 2004 MAKING RESERVATIONS All cruises are on a reservation basis with a 40% deposit. Upon receipt of all deposits, a written confirmation will be sent to you. The remaining 60% of the fee must be paid in cash or travelers checks only on departure. Deposits are refundable up to 90 days prior to departure with a written notice. Any refunds will be less a $250.00 handling charge. A STATEMENT FROM JOE & ANGELA We both enjoy each other and what we do. We also enjoy introducing people to sailing and the wonders of our tropical paradise. We will be happy to introduce you to sailing, navigation, snorkeling, fishing, and we encourage our guests to take part in the daily running of the ship. WHAT TO BRING Identification for Immigration are passports only. Soft luggage only. Please, no suitcases. Try to limit your gear to one bag per person. Wardrobe should include: swimsuits, sunglasses, hat, long sleeve shirts and pants for sun protection, shorts, jacket or sweater for cool evenings, and old sneakers for beachcombing. No black or hard-soled shoes, or sandals on board please. Most restaurants in the islands allow casual dress. Other items are camera, film, suntan lotion, personal snorkeling gear, and toilet articles. Most of our guests find they have packed too much, so from experience, pack light. We do not supply alcoholic beverages, but you may bring your own. Excessive drinking or drunkenness is not permitted aboard.
